Machined from stainless steel with multiple features, coatings and treatments, this component would have been challenging in any environment.  But in a development scenario with information available only piecemeal and a fixed in-service date, we made a virtue of being geographically close to our customer to maximize on a very fluid situation.  Rapid and responsive communication not only helped win the order, it ensured the part was delivered on-time.
